“That pesky classical music – Part 2”

Felix Reuter – Piano

In this continuation of his programme, Felix Reuter presents works by famous composers inspired by nature with humour and a twinkle in his eye, demonstrating great skill and compelling sensitivity, which makes the performance all the more impressive. He highlights compositions whose titles are closely linked to natural phenomena. Among other works, he tackles Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s ‘Flower Waltz’ and ‘Swan Lake’, as well as Saint-Saëns’s animal world in ‘The Carnival of the Animals’. Composers who have created wonderful music inspired by phenomena such as the night, the rain, the moon or love are also given attention.

Anyone familiar with Felix Reuter’s approach to music knows how intelligently and charmingly he opens the door to classical music in his humorous ‘conversational concerts’, even for those who have so far ventured only a few steps into the world of the serious arts.

The Castle during Advent

On 12 and 13 December 2026, from 3.30 pm to 6.30 pm each day, Ahrensburg Castle will host the ‘Schloss im Advent’ event, featuring festive illuminations and beautiful floral displays. In this atmospheric setting, visitors can stroll through the palace at their leisure and enjoy a wealth of experiences and discoveries:

There is live music on two floors. In the Garden Hall, choral singing and the Steinway grand piano take turns to provide the soundtrack. On the first floor, historical craft techniques and handicrafts are demonstrated. Elegantly dressed Rococo gentry and ladies complete the illusion.

On the second floor, there are craft activities for children. Visitors can also take selfies as a memento. A nostalgic doll’s house impresses with its lovingly crafted details, and in the games room, historical Anker building blocks invite children to get creative.

In the vaulted cellar, the Friends’ Association runs a café serving home-baked treats and offering a welcome break. The proceeds go towards castle projects.

Ticket sales begin on Thursday, 1 October 2026 at 11.00 am at the castle ticket office. Enquiries by telephone and email will only be accepted from this date onwards.

Tickets cost 25 euros (children aged 4 to 16: 12.50 euros).
